Rewatching Demon Slayer Episode 1 Before the New Movie Was the Biggest Emotional Mistake I’ve Ever Made”

The Demon Slayer new movie is about to release, so to refresh my memories and to enjoy the movie demon slayer infinity castle to the fullest, I started rewatching Demon Slayer anime from season one episode one. Little did I know I was setting myself up for emotional torture all over again.

The episode starts with Tanjiro walking to the nearby town to sell the charcoal, but before that his small sister and his brother insisted to Tanjiro that they would accompany him, but his mother said no because of the bad weather and also today Tanjiro isn’t taking his cart so they can’t get a ride, so stay at home. Even Tanjiro says it’s dangerous and it’s better to stay home. Looking back, this whole conversation feels like cruel foreshadowing.

Now as I was watching this, it was hurting because we know what is about to happen. The innocent family moments just make everything worse when you know what’s coming.

After a while when Tanjiro returns to his home, the scene is so brutal here the screenshots, well, I don’t even want to see that again. This is exactly why I’m telling people to skip this episode if they can.

How would Tanjiro feel was the thought in my head because he could’ve saved 2 of his siblings just by taking them with him, right? The guilt he must carry is unimaginable.

And such a loving family is in that state – it’s just painful. This is what makes Demon Slayer hit so differently from other anime.

Yo, Watashi no Namae wa Vamshi Chandar! Watching anime and reading manga has been my favorite thing to do since I was 11 years old. I've watched 5000+ anime episodes and read more than 2000 manga chapters. I prefer ISEKAI and Shounen mostly, but I do watch Seinen and Shoujo as well.
