Rengoku’s Legacy and Impact on Tanjiro

Rengoku, the Flame Hashira – he made millions of viewers motivated in the Mugen Train movie. He fought the Upper Three demon with no mark, and at some point even Akaza struggled.

Even in the final moments of his life, he says to Tanjiro “don’t cry hard because the wounds will open.”

I was shocked to see that in Rengoku’s first attack in the Mugen Train – that demon mentioned it has unlimited regeneration and was boasting about it, but Rengoku cuts it with his flame breathing and protects all of the passengers in the train, which is about 200 in total. Not to mention the animation – I loved it so much and kept watching it on repeat.

Rengoku teaches Tanjiro that being alive means we have won the fight, and Tanjiro also curses Akaza for running away, saying they didn’t achieve anything that night. In fact, Rengoku wins the fight because he didn’t let even a single person lose their life.

In the short span he knew her, Rengoku acknowledges Nezuko and says “I saw she protected the humans while fighting the demon, and I accept her.” Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu consider him as a big brother, and the ending of the movie was so hard to watch.

Even his childhood was kind of sad because his father never bothered to talk to him and spent his life cursing his sons. The only thing that made Rengoku become this person with a great mindset is that his mother taught him that strong people are born to protect the weak.

Akaza, the Upper Rank demon, constantly urges Rengoku to become a demon because he saw his potential – that shows how great his strength is, and that too without awakening his demon slayer mark.

The way Rengoku handles things and how he fights by making sure everybody around him is safe, and the teachings he gave to Inosuke and Tanjiro – all of these things made Tanjiro get stronger.

Rengoku’s Impact on Tanjiro

This is the first time we’ve seen Tanjiro become depressed. Like Zenitsu mentions, he was surprised to see that even Tanjiro can get depressed.
