HYDERABAD, India, 18 November 2024 : Maruti Suzuki Arena Hyderabad Comic Con, powered by Crunchyroll, unfolded between November 15th to 17th, 2024, first time ever for three days. Bringing together the community of comic books, manga, anime, superhero films and all things fun, the convention proved to be a grand success, as Comic Con India made a thrilling return to the city for the biggest pop culture celebration in the subcontinent.
Attendees channelized their inner fandom to cosplay and put up their geekdom on display while others interacted and participated in tournaments, games among others. The 8th edition of the 2024 Con in Hyderabad, witnessed the ever-expanding fanbase and love for anime characters such as Chainsaw Man, Beserk Anime, Solo Levelling and more, while a few brought back the classics such as Wolverine, Transformers, Deadpool and a number of Spiderman variations. Over 3000 cosplayers across three days participated in the convention and a striking number of approximately 40,000+ visitors flocked to celebrate the best weekend ever.
The on-stage line-up included popular artists – Karan Kanchan, Geek Fruit, and Daisuki Cosplay Band who rocked the stage with their energetic performances. Beloved comedians like Harsh Gujral, Azeem Banatwalla, Ravi Gupta along with Hyderabad’s favourite Syed Bashaar created a laughter riot on the stage.
Speaking of his experience performing at the final day of the event, comedian Harsh Gujral shared, “Hyderabad Comic Con was a roar!! After performing at Delhi Comic Con previously, I was super excited to be here. I think the crowd here at Hyderabad Comic Con was one of the best I have ever seen. Despite sitting for so long, soaking in all the fun amidst so much crowd, everyone was paying attention and listening to each and every punchline. I went beyond my 30 minutes set because I was enjoying so much. I’ve done more than 50 shows in the city so far and it is one of my most favourite cities to perform in!”
Comedian Azeem Banatwalla shared, “I’ve always had a very great relationship with Comic Con, we’ve been working together for the past 5 to 6 years. It’s always great fun to perform for all the geeks in every city that we go to; all us bunch of misfits get together and have a good time. And Hyderabad is one of those cities which is always really enthusiastic about comedy and the combination for both Comic Con and Comedy has been super fun for me here at Hyderabad!”
Hyderabad’s very own stand-up comedian Syed Bashaar said, “This is the first time that I’ve performed at Comic Con or even visited this great pop-culture extravaganza. I loved the cosplays, it’s the first time I’ve seen them in such huge numbers, so up close! It was wonderful. Nodwin’s DreamHack also had some amazing gaming zones set up which was incredible. The Chess zone was especially a great surprise to have for me. The vibe here is surreal! I loved that the audience here loved all the jokes. I’ve performed these sets before but here the geeks really understood all the references and I loved their reactions!”
The three-day extravaganza from Comic Con India under the aegis of Nodwin Gaming showcased comics in a grand way with a slew of comic book creators and artists present, as well as special sessions that were held for attendees to soak in. From Hyderabad’s very own illustrator Rajesh Nagulakonda, along with Abhijeet Kini, Yali Dreams Creations, Bakarmaxx, Lilorosh, Prasad Bhat, Indusverse, Holy Cow Entertainment, Garbage Bin, Bullseye Press, Art of SAVIO, Saumin Patel, Happy Fluff and many more joined in, as well as the esteemed International comic book author Josh Blaylock graced the event.
Numerous retail experiences featuring Otaku, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, Batman, Garfield and other popular series were on display as well as Indian comics like Amar Chitra Katha, Vrindkavi, AlphaComics, Terra by Trishla, Chitra Chaya and Penguin Random House were also some key attractions for thousands of admirers. The experiential zones included Crunchyroll, Maruti Suzuki Arena, Hyderabad’s Biggest Comic Book Store by Penguin Random House India, Lenovo Legion, Intel and an exclusive Yamaha experience zone which gathered fans in huge numbers and was a popular hotspot.

Maruti Suzuki Arena Hyderabad Comic Con, powered by Crunchyroll, took place between 15th to 17th November 2024. Post which, Delhi Comic Con will take place between 6th to 8th December 2024 this year, followed by Bengaluru Comic Con on January 18th and 19th, 2025 and more.
